I understand why you don't paint anti-foul containing Copper right up to the (aluminium) outdrive but is it actually necessary to leave a gap that the critters can then stick to?
Put another way: Can you paint the 'safe' outdrive anti-foul (Trilux etc.) off the edge of the outdrive and onto the transom to meet the copper containing hull anti-foul; thereby eliminating the gap? I'm assuming that as the outdrive anti-foul contains no copper there will be no circuit created.
