I need to get down the river from St Kats to Brightlingsea at start of June. New engine getting fitted. One that works! Inboard bukh hasn´t started for some time, was blowing back through air intake so had another hit at it today. Rocker cover & rocker off, water coming out of the oil feed into the rocker. So something bad going on. New head gasket recently so dunno, but I´ve had enough of throwing money at the thing. I give up.

So how to get down the river, 3 obvious options..

Sail: Not really, too dicey and PLA would get fed up with me drifting through the barrier a few times on different tides with no wind. So not that one.

Tow: Possible, maybe just down to Southend or something like that. Commercially would cost a bomb.

Or.. I could strap something like a 15h yamaha outboard to the transom easily. Some steel ladder rungs welded on already so would take an hour or 2 to fabricate a bracket, not hard. And a hint of self reliance, always a good thing.

So where can I beg, borrow , or rent a decent sized outboard for a few days??

Bukh 20 going for spares soon...

PS: The boat´s a 10t 33´Ebbtide longkeel cutter.
