Credit where credit is due, Thanks Jim (Full Circle) for coming down and helping me play 'loop the backstay on the masthead'
Sadly the Mast won and wouldn't give it back.

Well it's an unplanned visit to dry-dock for a bit of mid-season TLC it seems.

Sorry Jim of your 'moment' on the way over.

Cheers,

Nik

Nik,
no worries, it only cost a couple of grand.:D

I left my kit in your inflatable, that'll bring me back when you are ready.

Go here for the mast lowering rig:

couple a lumps of 2x2 and a bit of ply no worrries.

Get the forestay plate fitting sorted. A must.

Dave the rigger 07796032564 when we are ready.

Get longer halyards, please.

Other than that, good day.

My Seagull fired up 3rd poke in Burnham this evening.

And Dark Star's Summer Solstice is to die for.

That's blindin' thanks!!

And I do feel bad about you're over close meeting with a local. :(

Getting off the beach was no problem. However, the wind picked up a bit and my cunning pop back in the inflatable to drop some stuff off got 2/3 of the river blackwater onboard. :D

Regarding the forestay plate, i've already found some suitable candidates which will bolt from the inside and put my mind at rest that it won't give way in heavy weather. You're right, it's not worth lgnoring now we've noticed it, even if it is a bit annoying that you go to fix one problem and find another couple along the way.

I forget, was Dave the Rigger the guy to get Halyards from or was that another handy contact?

3rd Pull on the Seagull?? Not bad.. Think my Mariner was showing off with it's one-pull wonder trick. :D

...anything by Dark Star is worth drinking in my humble opinion but i've not tried that one and will be looking out for it!

...another thought - do you have any bridges nearby that you could moor next to that would give you the height?

Can you tell I'll do anything not to take my mast down??! :p

is climbing the mast out of the question ? You could hoist a small child up for about a £5, but perhaps it might cost his dad more to bring him down :)
