Having taken the trouble to actually attend the "practice" in 2011 have been blown out on the actual event....wonder who got my spot ?

Will be a tad disappointed if the the tupperware fleet is made up entirely of boats from only Thames clubs with no representation from outside ?

anybody else got any probs emailing this ?

Out..not in!

We're another.

Attended the rehearsal: have VERY safe boat. Skipper VERY well qualified (has LKE...not many like that, I'll be bound), but nonetheless, kicked into touch.

We learn that from the original 120 boats it was dropped to 80 and then down to 60 and then that there were probably many VIP’s who were making passage on boats such as ours. It seems that there have been so many of these some of those who rehearsed have been "dropped out".

Anyone know by what criteria the choice was made (other than being a VIP or not?)

H,mm

Would hope there is at least one boat from the Medway and do NOT mean the Havengore !
Sooner or later the list will out and will be very interested in the number of boats from which particular Thames clubs managed to get on the list who did not make the effort to attend the practice runs in the first place ?

We feel exactly the same. Did both rehearsals and provided feedback. At the time we weren't in a club but I am sure that isn't the reason for exclusion. I can understand one or two of us not getting in, but almost all?

Anybody fancy running a book on exactly how many of the great and good will have mysteriously sudddenly aquired the brownie points to leap to the front of the list since September :)

Surname 'Shefras' or closely related either by Birth or ATYC Nepotism? :D

Some of us tried to go on the rehearsal and were turned down . . .

Did not know that. Having calmed down a bit, I think this is just extremely bad expectation management. The people running it are very well intentioned but a little inexperienced in communications from what I saw. I did offer to help but was politely refused. However, I still believe what the event has lacked is good project and communications management.

Paranoia?!

I thought I followed this site reasonably closely, but clearly I have totally missed out on something.

The above from No Regrets and the other lengthy post indicating some frustration about ATYC have totally escaped me.

Dare I suggest that we all relax and treat this site for what it should be? A method of being in touch with fellow (impersonal tense!!) enthusiasts of a hobby we all share and love.

Leave the hassle to work and politicians. Don't bring it into our passtimes.
