Thames Wey transit licence

Pending a more authoritative post from T_L, I am of the opinion that the license is known as a Section 9 licence, but the price is lower than the current which was £15.

Perhaps I'm wrong...

I had someone phone me this morning enquiring about this , i told him i had no idea what he was talking about.

Come 12.30 , we have a message come through that it does in fact exist .

Basically it is a 'Wey Transit' licence , it is only valid at three locks ( Sunbury Lock , Mouldy Sock , and Teddington Lock ) ... and surprisingly , it is only £10 for the ( one day ) licence regardless of size of boat.

It will be offered between the 24th April and the 30th September. It is meant for people heading from the Wey to the GU , either at Brentford or Limehouse and vice versa.

As far as i can tell , this one day licence is NOT deducted from the total amount of visitors licences you can have in one season.

If i hear any more , i'll let you know.

P.S. The section 9 licence is charged at the same rates as a visitors licence ( length x breadth ) , and you don't get the second day free like you would with a visitors , it is payable in one day increments.

I am on nights that day i'm afraid , so unlikely you'll see me.

We had a very informal email confirming it from a team leader , no doubt there will be a more 'official and in depth' explanation soon.

It was apparently agreed at a TUGn meeting ( Thames User Group (navigation) ) some time ago. The text on the NABO page is basically the jist of the email we had.

Presumably the 3.9m width thing will exclude most bargees ?
