Thames Visitir Moorings

Pony outfit. They claim sites are monitored by CCTV when they are not, that makes them liars, the wording on their signs is poorly worded and stands no chance in court, and they stick pathetic little reminders on ones boat when one does not register a mooring as one is not staying for more than 24 hours, while the mooring sign clearly states blah blah blah....'Only if you intend to moor for more than 24 hours' which means quite clearly one does NOT have to register if one is not staying more than 24 hours.

A total waste of time...Assuming you refer to 'Visitor' rather than 'Visitir'

Of course I meant "Visitor" - my sincere apologies for my typo which i have now corrected as far as the YBW system will allow!
Camera equipment does not need to be installed at mooring locations to be in use - patrol boats carry cameras and may well video mooring sites as they pass.
Admittedly, the signage is not perfect and I have already made my views known - discussion is ongoing. However, the need to register on arrival is explicit, only the requirement for payment relates if staying over 24 hours - a comma after the word "arrival" would fix that!
The trial has actually been proving quite successful and there has been a significant reduction in the number of boats abusing short stay moorings which is certainly good news.

It's record abuse from Teddington to Sunbury, I'd be interested to know in which areas the EA is claiming success. I suppose this area is a victim of its close proximity to London and good transport links to the local benefits office:(

Requirement for registration is required only if staying more than 24 hours. I have photographic evidence ....

My comment referred specifically to EA 24 hour short stay moorings. You don't need to tell me about boats moored elsewhere, I have just cruised the Sunbury stretch down to Hampton Court and have photographs coming out of my ears.

That must be very painful.

I wonder whether they come out at the speed of a Canon?

Re: Thames Visitor Moorings

Not sure what the problem is but it would appear the Thames Visitor Moorings system is currently unable to register arrivals.View attachment 65383

Is this not due to E.A. being questioned using F.O.I. related European Law that has resulted in them stating that charging actions should be halted ?

Still pathetic. We arrived on Saturday, moored behind a presentable looking barge just upstream of the ferry mooring at Weybridge and a friend rafted onto us. The barge owner then proceeded to play hideously load music all afternoon, and ran his generator for hours. I didn't get too upset about this as we were planning on playing a bit of music so he saved our batteries, and the generator is fair enough. However, at 4AM he started his engine, which was loud.

After a while, suspecting it wasn't being run to charge batteries (after the afternoons generator session) nor for emergency bilge pump operation, I rapped on the side several times and he appeared in his nightwear and started arguing that he had every right to run his engine, and might even be going somewhere, and had no suggestion as to WHY he was running the thing at 4AM

After we ascertained he wasn't going anywhere and appeared drunk or drugged, we threatened him enough to make him turn it off, at which point he told us he would be turning it on in an hour, which we suggested wouldn't be a good idea unless he was a very good swimmer.

In the morning, his friends all appeared and hung around, and a narrow boat owner on the other side of the ferry mooring who had also been woken up by the barge engine told us he had been moored at Lady Lindsays lawns, and been kicked off, taking up residence on his current moorings for quite some time. the boat had no name, visible licence or visitor permit.

Rex was also moored at Weybridge (Allegedly for more than 48 hours also) and was aware of this, yet the grant barge was still there!?

It looks like the system is just not working. What a waste of time, there were just liveaboards all over the moorings. Looks like 'Run by liveaboards FOR liveaboards, rather than run by Boaters for Boaters as the unreliable website suggests....
