Hi,
I have heard that some people taget hire boats on the Thames and proceed to board said boats and steal their contents.
Does anyone know anything more on this?
Thanks

There are indeed thieves operating on the Thames and you are right to be worried. Amongst the worst is Fisher the knife (aka Big J). He is a notorious and nefarious river thief operating on the Thames. In deed one could go as far as comparing him to the pirates of yore of whom it was said, “most pirates were hard and ruthless robbers and murderers who were notorious for their foul language and heavy drinking.” Big J certainly ticks most of those boxes. Sadly execution dock is no longer in use!

He operates from an innocent looking river cruiser and will seemingly aimlessly potter around while he spots likely targets. His usual MO is to moor near his intended victim and engage them in conversation. Like many predecessors he has a deal of superficial charm and can wheedle his way on to others boats or invites them on to his own craft. This, of course, is where it all turns nasty. If the victim is lucky they will merely get slipped a mickey. Often however Big J will resort to violence, his favourite weapon being a beech carver’s mallet. It is hard to determine whether he enjoys the violence or the theft most, maybe both equally.

An innocent looking vessel with a shocking secret.

He is known to squander his ill-gotten gains on alcohol and women of ill repute some of whom are so loose they are falling to pieces. When drunk he sings, in a particularly unattractive croak, the songs and chanteys of the pirates. When drunk he is still dangerous and even if he is not armed with his infamous beech mallet will have stashed around his person various chisels honed to a razor edge. When apprehended he will pretend he is a simple carpenter and these are the tools of his trade, not entirely a lie I suppose.

Despite being well known about, Fisher has never been jailed having something of a Bliar like Teflon-coated ability to shake off accusations, pursuers and the law. This dangerous criminal is not only at large but is flouting every rule and waving two gnarled fingers at authority and rule of law. It really is time something is done about him.

Execution Dock is still available, and a couple of pubs round here have nooses over the water - and there's still access to the steps where they captured judge Jefferies - all we need to do is draw him in.........
