Thames River User Groups

I think that's for the local group secretaries to login and upload their minutes (.....once every three years. he he)

I would imagine it is restricted to the RUG secretaries as you say. If that is the case then the "log in" should not take up such a large space on the home page, at the moment it looks as if it is inviting any one to have their say.

Found this from the minutes of RUG 1 and 2 at their 26 June 2014 meeting:-

"Any documents uploaded to these sections can be seen by anyone. Additionally, there is a “Members Only” section protected by a password and user name through which members can upload any document, photo, etc., to their own Group to be seen by anyone not necessarily a member of any Group. Anyone can read documents. The Web Site address is www.riverusergroups.org.uk."

I suspect - though I could be wrong - that if anyone registered their interest with their relevant RUG - and perhaps even attended a meeting (heavens forfend!!) they might be able to become a 'member'. I'm sure that most RUGs would welcome more members / attendees.

It's good / great to see public information back again. I suspect that few boaters / river users are aware of their local group, which is a shame. The officers put in a lot of time and it must be disappointing when so few interested parties turn up.

AFAIK there are only three groups which are active to any extent. EA send representatives to group meetings, yet local users don't attend - but are vociferous of forums when they have an issue. It might be more profitable if they raised the issue locally as well. Fishers, canoeists, ROWERS, ramblers and the like do make some effort.
BUT boaters - Zilch. (I'm talking about folks who do not inhabit this forum).

Why the blazes should EA put money into the River when only a tiny minority of it's users make their interest / requirements known.

Bah! Humbug!
