On retirement, winter having arrived, sitting in the lounge, counting your money loses its attractions.
Went on to the PLA website and its tidal gauges.
Either the gauges were on something illegal or there was an enormous tidal surge yesterday, one gauge in the estuary giving .6 of metre but further up nearly a 1 metre.
Chiswick one must have been broke at around 1.5M above prediction.
Has anybody else seen the video of the Thames over topping the gate at St Kats. ?

Twickenham had the highest tide many of us have ever seen. If you do Twitter search for it. Local chap paddling by road from Barney Arms to White Swan. Barrier shut the following day.

A few days ago can't remember which day there was a big tide it was lapping over the outside gates at Limehouse.

A wide bean canal boat was locking out and they were locked up onto the River not down .

Rough ride for them I think !

The barrier was closed for part of the day.

Same on the Norfolk Broads, we had no sailing on Sunday because we couldn't reach the boats due to floods. just down river it's like this.

There's a Broad behind the fence on the right, on this one, and the car park on the left is about a foot above the left hand road surface.
