The Mrs nipped off to some part of Africa leaving me with a Sunday by myself so I grabbed my bike and headed up river trying to follow the Thames path proper.

Firstly it has to be said Twickenham to Windsor is far longer than it looks......THEN instead of grabbing the train back I decided I had enough energy to cycle back...BIG BIG mistake..

Thoughts - where the hell is everyone? no folk walking the tow paths, no folk using the river, no one in the pub gardens and all moorings vacant?

Thames Path - what a nonsense, and its not just this stretch I try and do as many as I can but this was the first time I tried to get to Windsor following it. Ok in fairness is was not too bad but some of the paths were so overgrown you had to fight your way through, then the Queens pad got in the way meaning a slight detour into Datchet but there is a "hidden" path if you look hard enough but the Thames Path signs BOTH point in the same direction!

But what amazed me is you can actually see lots of things you dont see by boat I even found a marina I never knew existed!

Anyhow bed now if I can walk up the stairs....

Try London to Brighton in a pair of normal shorts ( no padding ) Thats not walking let alone trying the stairs .

Funny enough I have always wanted to do that but the times have never worked out, anyhow I dont think I was far off the mileage today!

Cycled past a few forumites boats, yours seems to have some sort of helicopter on the roof!

was that on your super smart folder Richard ?

Perhaps you could carry a scythe slung over your shoulder next time, rather like the character from Discworld.

Do I feel a 'mission' to clear the path being developed ? Or an article for Narrowboat World :D

Off course....it still makes me giggle when all the kids give me "Hummerspect" as my wife calls it! all you here is kids going WOW after I have passed..I am positive because its bright yellow with a big Hummer badge on it and nothing else...

Only saw two narrow boats today, mostly Brooms and Fairlines those that were out.

come on Cuchilo, don't be shy, give us a picture of your twatter.

(It's the Shead's thread, so he won't ban it ;) )

My Father would take my brother and I walking from Barnes to Kew Bridge and the other way to Hammersmith, fairly regularly.
I think 40 years on, the towpath is still used well enough from 'ammersmith to Barnes.

Do tell. A marina you don't see from a boat forsooth:-)

A little inlet just before Bell weir, has a small Sunseeker in it but did not realise it went further and the other just before Old Windsor lock, maybe I just had my eyes shut!
