Hi All
I am toying with the idea of moving my little 26fter to the Thames, so can anyone tell me are moorings difficult to get, and how much on average? Also can the boat stay in the water all year round? she will need to be on the upper reaches around the Windsor area, and can anyone recommend a surveyor to get the BSS cert.
Thanks in advance
Julian

A couple of marinas in the area:

I will check who did my BSS and post it tomorrow. Choice is yours as to staying in all year, but if on the main river it is worth having a mooring that can take a fair rise and fall incase of floods in the winter months. It can get lively if moored close to a weir on the downstream side during these periods. Off the river in a marina on a pontoon berth solves these potential problems. Suggest phone to check prices and availability. There is also a nice marina at Bray, just a little further up river.

Just a few cables from Boulters Lock

As far as moorings go try HERE for starters.

Expect to pay around £250 per annum per metre in most marinas.

Might be worth giving Mike Gates of MDL a ring (01628 623654) at Bray Marina (just upstream from Windsor and they have another Marina a bit closer to Windsor itself)....I think they had a special rate for smaller boats but dont hold me to it.

I`m about 3 /4 miles from Windsor at DB Marine ( the VP Dealership)at Cookham. 10 mins J 8/9 M4 or 10 mins from J4 M40 (High Wycombe) There a few spaces free. Water, electricity etc. My 26ft Sunfury costs about £1800 pa inc.

Nice friendly neighbours - close to good riverside pubs & loads of mooring at Cookham reach

I'd recommend Mike Gates' Bray Marina. Good facilities, excellent security but above all very helpful staff. Discounts on fuel plus 14 nights free mooring at other MDL marinas are icing on the cake

Just had a chat with Mike at Bray Marina very very helpful , so it looks like that later in the year we will be moving to the Thames!!!
Now all I need is a list of jobs to be done for the BSS before I get there!!
