Just had a rather disconcerting chat with a Thames Lock Keeper. Rumour has it that 'they' are going to prevent them taking their dogs to work.
Seems that some water bailif's dog bit a stroppy fisherman some time back so 'they' (Environment Agency ?) have decided to ban all dogs from the workplace.
This is another example of some beaurocratic jobsworth over-reacting to an isolated incident. The lock keepers' dogs are a part of the character of the river and all are very well behaved, friendly animals - otherwise they would not be there !!
