After all the hard work that went into keeping the locks looking good last year, did the winners receive their respective awards?
A little birdie has told me that Dave at Romney never received the champagne or whatever the prize was and that Geoff of Shiplake had retired and probably never received his either!!
Perhaps Teddington Lock can confirm if he ever receved his accolade.

If such rumours are true, it just shows how little money the EA has to spare.

I had my winners meal , but still haven't recieved my trophy / plaque.

I expect i will at some point , i was told i would keep it for a year , so i don't mind what date it arrives on :)

Not good enough really is it? After all the hard work that has gone on over time.

Mind you, I've noticed some are getting a bit carried away this year and are putting the "Self Service" sign up so that they can mow the lawn. Others are mowing the lawn and not paying attention to the lock.

Seems to me that you have moved from a 'rumour' state to an 'assumed true' state?

The Customer Charter now says:
"4.2 When staff are not available to help you because they are operating the weir or taking a required break, we will display a blue ‘self service’ sign."

No mention of when they are mowing the lawn or whatever.
(There is a facility for reporting such issues on the TMBA website - see my sig.)
