OK you Thamesites, just had a phone call from my mate who keeps his boat at Bray,we are supposed to be meeting him at St Kats on Friday, but according to him he aint going anywhere. Are river levels likely to be back down and the flow slow enough for a newbie to venture out by the end of the week .It may be academic anyway as I am not coming round anyhow if the forecast for the estuary is anything to go by.......F5/6.

We drove over Sonning bridge on Sunday morning, and the pontoons on the pedestrian bridge were standing a good 8" proud of the water.

By 5pm, they were gone...

The flow was quite impressive, not as fierce as last July, but fast, and the locks were on Reds!

And we have had a drop of rain since then and assuming it takes 24 hours for the runoff to actually get into the river!
Are there any webcams up there ?

Funnily enough, I was looking for one with a shopping trolley...that would have been the icing on the cake eh? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

First off I don't see how a forecast of 5/6 affects a boat at St Kats too much. Secondly I have arranged for the river to start dropping rapidly as of today.

What Brad wants is, in fact, an upstream current, if you would be so kind as to arrange one.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We were supposed to coming into the Thames and St Kats from the Medway.
The Sheppey Webcam is already showing a few white tops on the waves and the wind is not forecast to really get going until early Friday morning.

Sorry Mate I didn't realise. Well! if you are coming up the Thames a North Easterly is nice even if it is 5/6 because you have wind with tide and you surf up.

Tail water at Teddington is just over 4 feet above normal levels currently ( 22.20 @ 17.03.08 )

Flowing pretty fast here.

Going down at all? I have parents expecting a trip on Easter Monday and Dad invariably buys lunch if I give him a boat trip:-)

still a lot of water coming down at PH this morning, with a lot of detritus, but it is falling.

Trouble is there's a load more rain forecast for Easter, and the concentration times seem to be very very fast these days, not sure whether the weir sluices are opened and closed quite as frequently as they used to be? TL?

Jeddi'l punch it though, take the ol' man out for half an hour and claim your lunch /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

We noticed this too. In the past two years, the river levels have risen faster and been kept a lot higher in Marlow after rains. Is there selective lowland flooding going on?
