Great piccie here Tony. AndyP's boat is high and dry on the bank all 50 odd foot of her. Lord knows how we are gonna get back in the water. MIke Haley's boat is half on the bank too but I reckon to shove her back in with a tractor when the ground is dry or hard enough to support its weight.

Great pic's.

Maybe you could post the one of the Meads to the papers and explain to them that this is the council agreed bit of the green belt that's about to become the site for about a thousand houses.

Does anybody know if you can sue the government for the result of their sh*t decisions based on the recomendations of an ar*e kissing know nothing commitee who ignored the advice of the the people that know the River Thames.
eg. Maidenhead flood relief scheme, or the decision to cut back on the river dredging programme. Or maybe they could explain why other countries call major flooding a "national disaster" and send government aid to the area to correct the damage. Whilst our rabble call it "owners risk factor" and leave it to the insurance companies who imediatly double the first number they thought of and call it a premium increase for the whole of the nation. Couldn't be the fact that they collect tax's on the premium value could it???

I know that the latest floods have affected the upper river as well and are perhaps the biggest since 1947, but could the Chertsey floods have been exacerbated just a teensy bit by the Maidenhead / Windsor flood relief channel? I always thought it might just move the problem downstream a bit.

Good piccies Tony.
We've been having a bit of a scare down here too. They closed the barrier the other night so my newly painted antifoul got a taste of the Thames, baring in mind my boat is up on blocks on the hard at least six foot above a normal high water spring.
Three tugs had to hold off a 45000 ton container ship at the docks until the tide dropped enough to stop her getting caught on top of the fenders.
Very scarey stuff, but I'm sure its nuffink to do wiv global warming, its had no effect whatsoever on my green house.

Syd :)

Feeling ill.........`

I had fully intended to hawk my pictures around all the nationals - broadsheets and tabloids.
Unfortunately, before doing so I rather stupidly read some of your 'contributions' (I use the word advisedly) to the 'Why do they call toilets 'Heads' thread........
I have been feeling distinctly ill ever since and will be consulting my lawyers about a possible claim for sensory abuse which no doubt will be accompanied by a substantial consequential loss demand. I cannot believe that kimatollah has permitted the said posts to remain available for other innocent souls such as I to be occasioned further distress.
I will now suggest a unique form of retribution to my good friend hlb which will require the co-operation of harry and a large sheet of plate glass...........
