Thames Estuary in a 4-5 wind against ?

I am scheduled to be in a 34foot planing boat from the Humber to Medway tomorrow.
Leaving the humber @ 1100
cruise speed claimed 40 knots, but they only managed 25 in yesterdays seastate. 3-4 on the nose.

I have only been in the Thames Estuary once or twice(usually pass 30nm out).

What would you expect the seastate to be like ?
10 knot day or 40 knts ?

I'm not needed as crew, I dont have to go its just for pleasure, is it going to be fun or tedious ?

What is your route?... (Is this part of your round the Isles dash I saw on the dark side?)

This really is important as the estuary is variable dependant on depth.... The Wallet is locally known to be horid wind against tide.... but I doubt yo will be going that way...

Yes thats the boat, they seam to take the shortest route from what I have seen on the tracker.
If I get chance I will suggest away from the wallet but I doubt I will have any input.
Im asking about seastate as I dont really want to be hammered around for 14 hours .

The tides are fairly neapish but even so wind over tide could be a bit choppy. Wind around 20 knots on the nose - predicted wave heights 1.3metres at 5 second intervals. Sounds like a nice day for gardening

Are you simply crossing from Felixstowe to Margate /N Foreland or heading into London?

We mud huggers know quite a bit about the local water and can give you some useful tips once we know a bit more about where you are going...

Yes please, sheltered channels very welcome , I think it will be close to low water .
Chattham is the destination which I think is the medway .
I will get my charts out and have a look.

I used to cross well outside all but one sandbank, N shipwash was my waypoint ?? I think, so I dont know the estuary at all other than one cruise to Gillingham .
