Thames Dover Wight not on Cullercoats or Niton - why?

When I look up extended forecast on the Met Office site, THames Dover and Wight don't seem to be covered by either the Cullercoats or Niton transmitter. Why is that? Do they not do an extended forecast as the areas are not vast areas of open sea? I'm not desperate for information but I'm just wondering.

You're talking about Navtex presumably? I certainly get Wight from Niton, and fairly sure Dover too. Less sure about Thames, but I think so.

Who knows apart from the OP? The first sentence seems to be about the website but the second one goes on to talk about Navtex transmitters.

The Niton transmitter certainly covers Thames & Dover but I can't recall getting an extended forecast on Navtex.

There's one broadcast a day, I think quite early in the morning, and it might be on 490 rather than 518. But I've definitely read an "Extended Outlook" for this part of the world on the Navtex. Only fitted the receiver box this winter and not been out much yet, hence only the one

I had my set mostly tuned to 490 last year which recived inshore waters forecasts and the recorded conditions from various weather stations so I guess it must be on 518?

Not all that long ago the inshore forecasts finished with an outlook for the following three days but that was dropped and it is probably a lot less relevant now that most of us have access to the internet.

I wasn't talking about navtex - just the website which is confusing. I have an adroid app that accesses navtex but have never used it in anger. Just interested. If anyone cares to look on the website you'll see Thames, Dover and Wight are coloured separately and they do not match the key as to transmitters.

You are right about the odd colours and some other areas are in different shades as well,but you will find that Thames Dover Wight are covered by the Cullercoats section.

Thames, Dover, Wight are included in BOTH Niton and Cullercoats. That's the reason for the different colour, a combination of the two.
