Or the art of splitting a hair five ways.

Dare I suggest that what the esteemed Gludy is seeking in a boat design is seakindliness, while what the RCD defines is seaworthiness?

One allows a boat to pass the "Gludy Bacon Butty" test, the other the RCD Angel of Vanishing Stability test.

In brief, we've all been wasting our breath as usual...

Doe's it really matter. Gludy has firm views as to what he wants out of a boat, which is fine. Things get heated when other views don't agree with his. Which to be honest has echo's of Happy's early posts. Time will tell.

Yes but it is not me that gets heated is it? Nor me that starts the personal attacks. In fact I do not even need to express views, just ask questions and it explodes.

As I pointed out on the colour blindness thread, I seem to have the ability to cure at least part of that because I think I can make anyone see red! However I do think that we all learn something from such debates. its a poity they can never get anywhere much but that is the nature of the forum.

The fact is I try to provoke discussion and I do remember deciding to stoke this one up a bit because I was frankly bored sick with the forum. Some the major threads in the past have been because I provoked discussion on the subjects and all were about boating.

I think the thread on the royal marriage did it for me .... I logged on, saw that and decide to do a bit of provoking .... on a boating subject. I had no interntion of even mentioning my boat and in fact i did not... that was steve. not me. The result is that it has got me studying hull design purely for the sake of it now.

It gave me many a laugh and was all together very enoyable. I intend to do a round Uk trip within a few years and so will stock up on the bacon and Hovis butties ....

I have to say the forum has been most entertaining over the past few days. I have one objection - why do you kick things off when I'm offline for hours, rather than when I can be online at will!!!
