Water pumping ebers seem to be a popular topic so I'll post my query while our experts brains are all warmed up.
Just been testing two D5Ws with a view to fitting in my boat and camper. I have set them up with a temporary plumbing system through a mini car heater.
The units start up fine and get into the heating cycle but cut out after about 30 seconds, at first I thought it was just overheating while purging air from the system (lots of bubbling and spouts in the header tank) After about 20 attempts I have started to think thatr maybee the water pump is not working and that the bubbling is just the overheated water being converted to steam.
It is difficult to feel if the pump is working and I want to test it off line. There are two wires to the pump one brown and one black ( becoming black and white). Question can I just apply 12 volts to these to test the pump? Also what polarity do these wires indicate both brown and black are used as negative wires in my ( out of date experience!!) The pump is plastic and there are only these two wires to it.
All advice appreciated!!
Thanks
