Is it just me that sees Tesco as an increasingly sinister influence on our Country ? On our high street we are losing over the next month;
A real butcher where you could get local meat to your order;
A real vegetable shop where the vegetables were not only local, but had taste;
An old fashioned bookstore.
The local Tesco has been given permission to expand in size and in range of goods sold.
Substantial areas of land have been bought up in the area between them and the city centre, by shadow companies.
It has certainly brought the farming industry to its knees. Our local farmers are almost reduced to selling solely at farmers markets.
Does it already have more actual clout that the Government. ??
BUT - we all go to Tesco - so how can I complain. (Yes - I should include other supermarket chains in my whinge !
No - I don't feel any better now !!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I believe that if people wanted to use the small local shops they would. Tesco, and others, don't force us to come and shop there, we choose to. I see as it as they offer what we want - its a business so they are out to make as much money as possible, and we give it to them.
Did you know, that 1 in every 8 pounds spent in this country goes straight to Tesco.
don't what ever you do spend them on food. they are worth at least twice the amount on tickets to go to attractions, air miles, meals out etc..... and other deals.
if you dont want them ebay them they go for at least twice the face value.
