Terhi Nordic 6020 question-fishwell fountaining!

I have a terhi Nordic with a 30 hp. Trailered up but about to start spring fishing trips. I noted last 2 times out that when I have the boat up on plane (15 knots?) the fish well fills with water, and when I lift up the seat/ hatch cover, there's actually a fountain of water spraying up. I have emailed terhi in Finland, but no answers. Question is, should I simply put a cork on the tube? Is it as I suspect simply a Venturi type effect drawing water up the tube, or something else. Should there actually be some sort of cap/ plug?

The water is being changed for you, keeping your bait in good order, why not fix a drain pipe near top of the well, and allow the water to expel back over the transom? put a gauze in it to prevent the bait from going out with it.
