Tenerife Wave

Cautionary tale about not building too close to the sea...........in general theSpanish love the sea so much that they have to build as close as they can, usually illegally

Any idea where in Tenerife?

First place might be Mesa del Mar, Tenerife. I believe second part of the video, with water running up the road, was taken at Tazacorte, La Palma. About 60nm West of Tenerife, West facing coast, probably light N winds now and bad weather headed towards Gib. I only glanced at a GRIB and don't remember any detail but didn't think the weather forecast would be particularly bad. Then I read about severe weather warnings.

The swell was coming from the NW according to Windy, so I guess the north coast of Tenerife.
IIRC there is only one small marina at the west end of that coast.
If the second clip was Tazacorte, I hope that means Playa de Tazacorte and not the village itself (it's up a hill).
Seek and you will find.

Was it only me thinking that those are fairly big waves, and the Arc is about to start?

Looks like thats 4 days away

The third and largest entry part of the ARC starts on Sunday. Wouldn't have bothered the earlier starts. Sea state is already well down, not heard of any problems on Gran Canaria.
