Greetings All,

Can Anyone recommend a decent person / company for a repair to my inflatable dinghy ?
The wooden seat fitting has failed and requires replacement.
Based around Portsmouth and Hampshire / Berkshire areas

Many Thanks

A bit out of your area but I have just had my inflatable dinghy repaired at a very reasonable price by PK Paddlesports near Lingfield. It has held its pressure for 2 days.
Paul Knight, the proprietor, can repair Hypalon and PVC inflatables up to 4m long.

I've just had mine repaired by Rib Shop at Hamble Point - excellent service from Kieron, but there was a 2 week lead time.

+1 and I had the seat strap fitting replaced which sounds what the OP needs. They were good value and the repair looks like the original (although they sourced a cheaper OEM part).

Mine only took a week.

This is PBO forum! Its not difficult to do small repairs in my experience. You can remove and stick on a replacment yourself if you are practical. Removing usually requires heating with a hair dryer and carefully prizing off the old part with a blunt scraper, Gluing the new one on is not hard although clamping it on if its PVC might be a little tricky.

Another vote for Kieron, known him since he started the business.
Just ordered a PVC repair kit from them. Great kit and very helpful; much better value than anything I could find elsewhere.

But for what you propose (wooden seat repair? ) Does it really need a tender specialist? Maybe just a carpentry job with marine ply?

Sounds reasonable, marine ply with a couple of stringers underneath for strength perhaps?

I think you'll find it's not the wooden seat thats broken, its the strap on the dinghy it hooks into. When my straps failed (due to UV degradation), I removed the old patches and glued new ones on no problem. It was a bit messy getting the old ones off and preparing the surface though.

Ah, fair enough. Yes, simple repair then - but as you say, preparation will be the key though. Henshaws are really good for whatever bits may be needed.
