Hi, I noticed somewhere in a magazine an advertisment for a hinged location for dingy to bathing platform, hence no longer the need for davits. Has anyone any experience of this method, and if so can they recommend where I can locate a kit. Ta.

Try Polymarine Web Site and get the solid support arms not the adjustable ones, they bend.

It's not just you, I agree.
Luckily, we only had to pay for half the system as the boat had them already fitted.
Our Weavers have so far been excellent, albeit you may lose quite a bit of visibility astern, when the dinghy is in its stowed position.

The Weaver snap davits do seem expensive but I haven't heard of them failing and they do offer a variety of fitting solutions to suit most set ups. I'm looking at the 4 inch extended versions, attached to a quick release fitting which uses toggle bolts which provide a through bolt fitting without the inside swim platform access. I think this will work for me /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

They must have the patents totally stitched up, to charge the prices. There has recently been a kit of Weaver davits and fittings sold on ebay for £195, so certainly in demand.
