Hi All

I am trying to decide on a new tender for our Sealine S38. I have been using my brothers 2.8m Honwave with a 5HP Honda o/b. This was fine as a simple slow tender but had nowhere to store the o/b when not in use.

I have just ordered and had delivered a set of folding dinghy chocks (despite cancelling the order long before delivery due to awaiting final thoughts :( ) , have sold the Honda o/b (at my brothers request) and about ready to give him his Honwave back. I am therefore considering what to get. I would like a small jet rib so the kids (both small and grown up :D ) can have some fun with it, inc towing water toys. Love the idea of a jet rib for the speed and safety aspects. Unsure though if a 200KG rib would affect handling too much (after all it is only the equivalent of about 3 adults at the back of the boat). Something like the Avon Seasport SC range looks ideal and there are a few about second hand. I also need to consider mecahnism for lifting and launching, and had considered the Hurley davit system.

It's doing my head in with all the different connotations and considerations so any thoughts and/or advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Indeed, you'll never get it on or off a 38 footer. The weight will also cripple your performance. We have a Brig 300 Sport with a 15hp Johnson that weights just on 100kg all up, and that's really about the limit on a boat the size of ours (in fact, I'd prefer lighter but I really wanted a console RIB).

If you want something relatively small and light, but fast enough for skiing, ringos etc., check out the J craft 2.85 metre. Ideal is to match it with a 2stroke 25 or 30 hp, but if you can't find one then a 4 stroke Honda 20 weighs about 45 kgs, which gives you an all up weight of about 120 kgs. You still need to work out how to lift it onto the chocks though.
