Tied up this afternoon at Shillingford and checked in at reception. That will be ten pounds and hear is a ticket for 20 percent off bar / restaurant meals and drinks.

The pricing policy seems to have improved.

did you get any electricity in that price?

I stayed on Friday, went up to reception to pay but was ignored for the best part of 10 minutes, I gave up in the end.

The electric isnt on a card anymore but the electric boxes are disgusting and filthy. Spent over £100 on basic frozen bar meals for 4, felt very disappointed and ripped off.

No one asked for the mooring charge and I didnt offer again. The Shillingford used to be one of my favourite places on the river, but beware its now simply a pub with indifferent staff and eye watering prices.

I was not asked the electricity question when we booked so suspect that is where the other ten pounds comes from. Electricity for us is nice but not essential. I can't believe any boater could get through 10 pounds worth in a night.

Had a decent meal in bar 61 pounds for 2 less 20 percent all in all a good experience.

At Shillingford last night, paid £10 for mooring and offered electricity card for a further £10 - declined the card as the meter display where the card is inserted in the bankside power supply showed a credit of £46 !! Obviously this has accumulated because several boaters paying £10 over a period of many days and not using the whole £10 credit - hard to use that much on a boat in one night. Check the credit on the meter before purchasing a card !!

Had a meal in the bar - not great but OK and 20% discount helped.

At least we have the option of electricity and also rubbish disposal here, unlike many other places that charge £8 for just mooring up for the night - Henley for one but many more.

Further to previous mail I checked the credit on the meter mid-afternoon and it read £46.22. We have two fridges running 24/7 and also cooked a meal on the electric hob and watched TV until 11pm. After breakfast this morning (tea, toast, all on electric) I checked again, it read £45.70 so the whole day only cost 52p. A £10 electric card would last at least a week !!
