I have a telescopic Dan Buoy to which is attached a length of floating rope, as supplied by the manufacturer.
Over the years, the rope has been exposed to sunlight and has started to degrade so I'd like to replace it.
The rope runs round a groove in the Dan Buoy to prevent vertical movement. The loop in the rope around the Dan Buoy is made with a metal ferrule.
I'd like some guidance, please, on selecting a suitable ferrule considering rope diameter and how much to compress this to secure a replacement rope without damaging it. What should be the ferrule material (I was thinking perhaps Aluminium)?
Would I be correct in assuming that this is better than a knot?
Thanks
