I have the old Restricted ticket and Ofcom told me that I could use VHF, including DSC without any further exams but if I wanted to use HF/MF DSC or sat comms I needed to do an add on module.

I m still waiting to find someone else to do it with as the instructor and examiners prefer minimum of two people.

How is the engine doing?

Hi,
The engine is doing just fine. It starts after 2 or 3 revolutions with no effort at all and more importantly no Easistart. When she get good and warm there is the occasional 'tinkling' noise at higher revs. Not sure what it is but not too concerned at the moment. Tend not to run at full rpm - only wastes fuel as the boat will only go so fast.

Meant to add that I suspect the tinkling noise is coming from the alternator - I know that it is feeling poorly.
