Techy question on radar reflectors

A PBO post I'm afraid. I want to fit a radar reflector or 2, but they look horrible. Now, the reason we need them on big plastic boats is that the plastic doesn't reflect radar well, so it must allow the radar to pass through, right? In which case is there any reason why I cannot stuff a couple of radar refectors right INSIDE the hollow GRP moulded box section sides of a flybridge radar tower (through one of the access panels) so they're completely hidden from eyesight view but (presumably) fully visible to another boat's radar?

Yes, no reason this shouldn't work fine, other than metal supports for frame (if any?), blocking signal return through some (fine) sectors

they will work after a fashion, but really need to be vertical. There will be a reduction in the return if you have them bent over to follow the slope of the arch. The metal struts are not really a problem, cause they themselves will be adding to the return.

What about the electrical ones that send back a massive ping - can't remember the make but they are small and neat. Friend was coming down the Irish sea in a 47' yacht and got this very worried call from a tanker 'large ship, large ship at long....lat.... please identify yourself' 'cause he couldn't see them other than the blip - so presume they work.
