Does anyone know where you can get 10mm teak panels/sheets?
Clint

If it's panels / sheets you want this probably isn't right but there's a chap on eBay that sells all sorts of teak in job lots. Just type "planed teak" into Google and it's the first eBay entry you see (at least at the moment)

Robbins Timber do a range of teak veneered panels in 9 and 12mm. Solid teak you could have machined to 10mm thick but you will be limited on board width to around 120mm.

My local merchant routinely has 8" boards, and occasionally 9" (200mm+). But agree with your overall point that trees don't come in flat sheets - people seem to forget this. Like the guy at work who thought he'd go to B&Q and buy a solid 2' cube of "wood".

Yes, but even with teak, boards machined that thin can warp. Robbins only list up to 150mm sawn in 12mm. Anyway, think the OP wants veneered ply.

I have been looking for teak for a while now, and yes the price is eyewatering. I'd settle for a few 9 inch planks, it's only for a few shelves and a switch panel, and what ever else her ladyship wants. I am more used to working with 8x4 sheets of ply. A previous post reminds me of why l never shop at homebase anymore. I asked if they sold "O" rings, l got a blank look, and was asked what an o ring was. l walked out never to return.

Why did you ever shop there in the first place? :) It's rubbish!

Well, as of this February, Bamptons in Southampton had a small quantity of 9", and a main stock of 6" - 8". Thicknesses from 1" to 3", but they will plane it for you if required.

(I got the bit I needed unplaned, and used sandpaper to smooth the few bits of sawn surface remaining at the end of the job. Given the price of the stuff it seemed criminal to turn 6mm of it into shavings before even starting!)

Yes it is criminal, l might have to settle for teak veneer. Re: Homebase l was desperate and they were open, but that was about 10 years ago, never, ever again.

You don't say where you are located but KJ Howells in Cobbs Quay, Poole stock a wide range of teak and ply. For the applications you are proposing, ply is probably better than solid and you can finish the exposed edges with matching mouldings. You will also find solid boards in that size are nearly 3 times the price per sq m than veneered ply!
