Hi .... I have a Bavaria 38 and the teak shower grate or mat as it may be called that sits in the concave in the floor has given up the ghost in one of the joints so looking for a new one .... It is round and approx 50 cms across , would anybody have any ideas on where I could get a replacement ? ⛵️?

www.kjhowells.com have kits and nearest standard size is 480*480. Doubt you will get a circular one of the shelf as I expect they were made specifically for the boat. You can often rebuild them if it is just the joints that have gone or alternatively buy the machined sections and margins from Howells and build your own. Lot of work to DIY but very satisfying when you have finished.

I can't imagine that Howells (whichever one) would custom-make a teak grate as cheaply as the original supplier which Yngmar helpfully linked to, and which apparently can sell the grate for about £110.

This is JUST a suggestion for anyone looking for a (much) cheaper solution......

I recently bought a caravan, and it was obvious to me than the (very light plastic molded) shower tray needed something like a teak grating to both reinforce it and aid drainage.

I happened to have some of these:

and as a temporary solution decided to try one of the tiles.

Works perfectly!. Spreads the load adequately and the foam is closed-cell and dries very quickly. Not so pretty, but ........

Lots of similar things for floors and temporary garden paths etc . Some more attractive colours available including wood effect http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EVA-Foam-...ay-Home-Workout-Soft-Tiles-Mats-/151657788631

Probably no t so good in a round recess though

Well looking on the taffhowells link I posted it seems he charges £39 per square foot made to measure.

Just looked and website says £39 per square foot & min order 3 square ft. This is equivalent to about £417 per square metre.

But if you look in the link in Post #5 you will find the direct OE replacement for the OPs boat is 150 euros.

Custom made gratings are expensive. However you can just about halve the cost if you are prepared to make it yourself from a kit. I have made 3 from KJ Howells (the father) and if you can use a standard size they are excellent value.
