this is probably a question that has been asked before but can anyone suggest a good product for protecting teak trimming? We have used teak oil in the past but it requires constant maintenance over the season and the teak turns black over the winter, requiring sanding. Would like to avoid varnishing if possible. any suggestions??

Try Starbrite Tropical Teak Oil Sealer, I am just applying it after an experiment on my cockpit table. Will not turn black, even in the tropics (where we happen to be) and lasts well. I am using the light colour rather than classic and it looks lovely.

Yes, many posts on this in the past.
I was advised not to oil or preserve in any way, wash with sea, not fresh, water and allow the sun to bleach. It works for us - if you don't mind grey rather than brown finish

try Teak Wonder silicone penetrating sealer fantastic stuff works for me. It says coat again 6-8 weeks during season, I cleaned and prpred mine and did one application of 2 coats that was last may it still has no grey or black.
