I will have to replace the teak decking on our trawler type motor cruiser in the near future, and have received samples of 'Tec-Dec', a plastic alternative to teak.
I have to say that the product looks and feels amazing. The fact that it needs no maintenance and will keep its colour are all positive factors,BUT. Is it any good?
There are a few versions of plastic/teak,Plasteak and Flexiteak amongst them, all fittable by a 'handyman'!

So has anybody any experiences, good or bad with these products please.

Fitted Tek-Dek to our last boat.

Yes, it looks good.
No it doesn't look as good as teak.
Yes, it is indestructible. I stripped a starter motor on it, washed the oily stains off with petrol and a wire brush, and it was as good as new.
Grip is excellent when wet.
Gets very hot underfoot in the sun.

I have considered it as well. But basically a teak substitute is naff. You have to have the real thing even with all the work.

As a confirmation Sealine fit it. Fairline, Princess and Sunseeker don't

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, the tekdek site is interesting but is there a UK stockist. Vancouver is a bit far if you've forgotten something.
