I have a 1947 41' Knud Reimers with swedish pine on composite oak and galvanized steel ribs. Planks are only close seamed and not glued. She shows her seams every Mediterranean summer and cracks the paint. I can either splice the topsides without any cotton or glue 5 mm thick diagonals over the existing spruce planks (resorcinol). However, I'm afraid that since spruce will not breath anymore, the planks could break or separate from teak. Thank you for suggestions!

I assume that the teak is planked over the spruce, with the seams of the teak running along the middle of the spruce planks. A layer of 5mm veneer over the top of the teak will stabilise any vertical movement [e.g expansion and contraction] of both of the existing plank layers. I have not personally had anything to do with this type of repair, but I understand that it worked very well on the Falmouth Quay Punt "Curlew". The basic problem is that you have a boat built for the Baltic and its climate trying to cope with the Mediterranean and a very different climate. It's a big ask.
Peter.
