I would like to cover the projecting curved top of my transom on an Atalanta Viking 800 with a 12mm teak facing, does anybody know of a publication or where I can obtain information on the method to carry this out?

you just need a good glue. epoxy works well (de-grease first) and sikaflex is good as long as you expel all air from the joint.

Presumably you intend bending the teak? I have a great book, the Collins Complete Woodworker's Manual which describes the choices of kerfing, Steam Bending, Laminated Bending - the book's a bit pricey but then I have a wooden boat. They do not cover bending teak but recommend Ash, Beech, Birch, Elm, Hickory, Oak, Walnut or Yew for steaming or laminating. They don't say you can't bend teak, the book is silent on it.

I renewed the caping rail on my boat a few years ago after redoing the deck and gunn'le (is that how you spell it). I used Iroko to match the rest of the boat which has some similarities to Teak although the grain on Teak is straighter and therefore much better. I used a piece 5"x1" and bending the one inch was a challenge. It's held down by some hefty bronze screws. If you bending 12mm teak you'll need more than glue I would suggest unless you can preform the shape.

Hope this helps
