could anyone give me a rough idea of the reasonable cost of replacing a teak decking either with real teak or a synthetic substitute, for the cockpit on a 40ft motor boat including fitting ? thanks

Not much info to go on but I'd say £1k.

How large is the cockpit? Total sq.ft
Are there hatches or other features to be incorporated?
If going the synthetic route - can you fit yourself or do you have 10 thumbs? Could save you some pennies and allow your inner perfectionist to run wild

I am a ten thumbs guy I'm afraid and would need it too look good as an end result, not like my first effort at DIY !! -I have a guy who does a lot of wood work for me in the pub and is an antiques restorer by trade so very capable .Could he do this or is it a specialist job - I'm not even sure what "caulking" is ?
