Hi,

I looked at a Sealine S28 today and it was very nice, but didn't have teak in the cockpit. The carpets were pretty slippy and the white GRP not too attractive to SWMBO. Is it possible, or sensible, to have teak, or artificial teak, fitted aftermarket?

Thanks

John

My S28 has a teak deck, real or false I'm not sure. Compared to my first boat which just had bare GRP, it's excellent. Nice and smooth to walk on and looks good. Bucket of soapy water cleans it down perfectly.
It's all a matter of taste and preference of course but I would now not have a boat without teak decking.

I have to disagree. I dont know exac tly what your cockpit looks like but mine looks cack without the carpet down IMO Teak would be nice but lots of looking after (apparently) I like a carpet under my tootsies /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi,

Good Point to make. I would Recomend Tek Dek or another brand of fake teak (or part fake teak, part real teak). DaCostaLot deals with this on here so you may want to PM him.

As the S28 is very white, the Teak (effect) floor looks great in them. The beauty of the fake stuff is that it is easier to clean and more hardwaring. It also lifts a white cockpit area and SWMBO likes that.

I have real Teak on the outside parts of my boat and Teak Faced Marine Ply on the Inside (Cockpit) areas. The external stuff is great but the Teak faced ply scratches too easy. I would consider Tek Dek as a replacement.

Cheers
