I'm in the process of doing some deck and cockpit teak repairs and wonder if anyone knows what the original teak thickness would have been on a Rival 38?

Also which is the best yard Nr Chichester for a pull out and clean?
Many thanks

William

I wonder if you could find something here?

The thickness would depend on several factors. I doubt if a veneer on plywood would have been used, as per many continental boats. Next point to check is the teak deck screwed down, i.e. are there filled screw holes. If none then it would be a thin layer of 6 to 8mm that was glued down. If there are screws, then the teak would most likely be 10mm.

Out of interest our steel ketch had Dutch marine ply glued to the decks and teak screwed to it, the cruising weight was 14 tons. I had the teak decks removed in Trinidad and after removal the boat was two inches higher in the water. I picked up about two square feet of teak and ply and couldn't believe the weight.
