My cockpit grating needs replacing.

I know Howells do grating & I've asked for a quote.

I see in PBO that a company called Sheraton Marine Cabinet say they do grating - anybody had any experience of them?

Are there any other manufacturers of custom teak grating that anyone can recommend?

TIA

Nigel

ARC teak do them as well, but I can vouch for KJ Howells kits, which are excellent, if a little difficult to assemble.

I bought a cockpit floor grating from Sheraton Marine 4 years ago. We're pleased with it - very well made and fading to a nice silver-grey colour now. I've never treated it with anything - just bring it home and scrub any algae off the underside each winter.

Having just made-up 2 KJ Howell's kit gratings and being quite delighted with the result I would vouch for them. I am no carpenter and approached the project with some trepidation. In practice I found the kits excellent, the construction very straightforward and the company very pleasant to deal with. Good value for money I thought but cannot compare to other suppliers.

Thanks for the replies.

The quote from Howells for the custom made 3 pieces of grating that make up my cockpit floor was quite eye-watering but I'm sure there's a lot more work involved than I realised.

Although the kit is not what I was looking for (the 3 pieces are not plain rectangles) maybe I could use a kit & DIY it somehow.

I'll try Sheraton but I wouldn't be surprised if it's in a similar league to Howells.

Maybe I'm just not in touch with today's prices /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
