I was wondering, what is the fuel capacity and range of your new LS 23? Not range flat out, but at an economical cruising speed.

Also, while I am here, I searched the forum the other night for Haydn's story on the Exploding Toilet without any success, I think a re-issue is in order!!!

Regards
Mike

I try not to worry about this sort of thing. Just blam around a bit, and plonk some juice in from time to time. Blimmin coliholic started working out what mpg we were doing at megaspeed in the car on the autoroute which spoilt that too.

I think the tank holds 6300 litres. It does something like 300 litres per hour at 25 knots praps, or mebbe 500 lph at 34ish. Best economy i have had is a whole weekend using under 100litres, but that was with the boat tied up and just the generator on.

Coming out of St tropez we went into a f6-7 on the nose, and it was doing about 15 lph, meaning that the 3 hour trip back to cannes wd've taken a gleefully miserly 50 litres. However, there was a fair bit of crashing noises from down below and everyone was turning green so they all insisted that we go back, pah.

Are you gonna buy one then?

Re: Ah But!!

The legendary saga of the exploding toilet was many years ago. Before the forum was altered. So no record of it. So now gone into the anals of legend. Just use your imagination. You wont be far wrong!!

gas locker hmm? no gas on board so it definitely isn't there. I am loath to admit but there are no keys needed to start the thing, not like a car. More like a ferrari, where the keys can be taken out of the lock at speed and the thing carries on, or praps a bently with red button to start engine. But you do need keys to open the control panel, and then a confident hand to turn on the correct switches and press the other correct switches and er oops he's blimmin set orf already....

Fantasic boat TCM, thanks for the advise on starting her up. I had a bit of a scrape when I got her back to the U.K. and tried to fit her into a 7 foot lock on the Staffs and Worcs Canal. I thought it would go if I went in on the plane.

You can have her back now :)

Seriously though, what make are the engines?

I saw the piccies that were put up by boatone both during building and on your first run, she looks really nice. If she were mine, I wouldn't be able to bring myself to charter her out. Even a little scratch would be too much let alone the result of any wild parties.

regards
Mike

the engines are MAN diesels, v12 1200hp each, it says - or they were before you trashed them in the lock!

The wild parties are no problem as they'll fix it all up at the end of the season as "warranty" and some squillionaires seem to want to rent it for 2k a day which buy a lot of tcut anyway.

Re: TCM? Rentaboat!

What is the demand like? Are you booked up regularly, and have to book your own time, or is it quite spasmodic. Have you had any celebs book yet?

I suppose that when you think about it, £100k is not too bad when set against some marketing budgets. Could do quite alot for a company if you were to entertain customers etc, use it for staff incentives etc, for a couple of nights each and a final week alone for the main man. Would mention it to our gaffer but he has not long since bought an appartment on the World Cruise ship thingy.

Re: TCM? Rentaboat!

it's a family of five renting the boat, not a marketing budget. But it's only dollars, not sterling.

Wd like to know more about The World, but seems a bit iffy to me. It can't feel dead posh if there's nobody in economy to push past now can it? Worst of all, you'd have to ferried in in cattle boats to everywhere like cannes, monaco, and most other places too and get sneered at by oiky types like, er, me.

Re: TCM? Rentaboat!

Some holiday, $100k must be a sneeze to him then, flash git, still it goes some way towards the £1.6m for the boat, or, of course, there are a couple of small houses in Bolton going begging!

As far as I am aware he hasn't been on the boat yet so can't be that worried about it. Very quiet type so probably not notice oiks like you on your boat:)) but quite likely to buy you a pint. As for the boat, seems a complete rip off to me, you can view the rooms on the web, don't look that special at all. Probably only a small dent in his pile so not to worry!!

Re: TCM? Rentaboat!

hmm, i think that a flash git is someone who purports to be fabulously wealthy yets only has a few of the more obvious trappings. However, surely actually spending $100k on a 3 week holiday- he's the real thing and not a flash git?
