Taylors Stove Burner Price!!!!

I've just been quoted £90 for a spare burner for my Taylors parafin stove and heater (Mailspeed Marine). I'd been led to believe that they were around £35. Hoping to buy four, this has come as abit of a shock! Does anyone know where they may be cheaper?

try base-camp.co.uk, but for a whole burner I think they are usually around £80.

do you really need brand new ones? you can replace all the moving parts for about £20-25 per burner. unless the passages in the burner are blocked an entire replacement shouldn't be necessary...

You could try a search as a couple of years ago there were links to replacement burners for £18 they had a site which sold compleat burners or parts i copied it for the expanded parts diagram

I dont have the link as it was on a laptop that sank last summer but there were plenty of posts hear about burners

I found a site selling new parrafin cookers fitted with the same burner as Taylors primus and others they had a cooker with two burners for about £25???Anyway less than the cost of replacement burners

I have one blocked burner and an assortment of two different types. I guess one is an older version than the other. That makes chosing the spares kits a little difficult. I found an assortment of spares on the boat, some bits just dont fit with one or other of the burners. I hoped to start again with a full set to simplify things but was staggered at the cost. I've googled but not come up with much. I'll try and find the £25 stove with two burners, hard to believe but that would be ideal.

I bought an old primus stove of ebay £3.50p, Removed burner, fabricated a Taylors heater copy (exept the auto prick facility) Fitted a very fine inline filter so it never needs pricking. Works a treat. 2.5kw burner on a primus stove.

I recently bought one from marine Mega Store online for about £32. delivery took several weeks but the price was right. I think the price you have been quoted is a mistake. Base Camp list a type 207 burner (which is what Taylor's stoves use) at £59.95 but out of stock at the moment; they also have all the spare parts for you to renovate your existing ones.

The blocked one is probably a write-off, but base-camp *might* be prepared to re-build the remaining ones for you, but that still leaves you with a mixed bag that will make them difficult to DIY service in the future.

please let us know how you get on, I'd be interested to know where one can procure reasonably priced complete burners.

'tis a helluva price, but I only ever bought one. I have 2 active and one spare. If I have a problem I swap the spare in and service the problem burner at my leisure. After I got the measure of the stove I never really seem to have difficulties. (Having said that, I'm having to do a hell of a lot of pricking this season - anxious that I've acquired some muck that's going to to haunt me, but no serious problem yet.)

Don't be too quick to give up on the blocked burner. You have nothing to loose. It is probably blocked with a mixture of carbon and impurities from the fuel.

You could try paint stripper or caustic soda. May not be available now, but I found Fective hot water degreaser effective in my past life. I am sure there are many other thing that could be tried.
