Not seen reviewe but had one aboard my prev' boat, In my opinion an outstanding bit of kit, bit of a fiddle till you get used to it but would choose over gas every time. Mike

hi, i've got a large taylors deisel heater. can't remember model number . i've had it for ten years and apart from cleaning the fuel filter it's never been touched.i live aboard and spent two winters on a mooring without mains power.can,t fault it.

I have both the paraffin/kerosene and diesel versions - the former in my bike shed and the latter on my boat. Great bits of kit both, and I tend to run them both on the same fuel: kerosene i.e. central heating oil. The 079K is definately much more trouble to keep running though, and it is noisy in use - it's a 'roaring' burner after all. The 079D just runs and runs with no fiddling or maintenance.

I light both without meths. On the 079K you must preheat, so I use a gas blowtorch. On the 079D I just start the drip feed and light the pool of fuel in the bottom of the burner pan with a long reach gas lighter and it starts fine.

The only disadvantage (that I can think of) of the diesel version is the that the flue diameter is larger and thus often more diffcult to install, but once it's in it is the superior beast

I have a Vega 27 and after looking at all the available options for cabin heating I went for the Eberspacher D2. The Taylors, et al , all require a difficult flue arrangement for the possible locations of the heater.
