Hi, I've just bought a boat fitted with the above heater and looking through the booklets that came with the boat I found reference to a "water heating coil (Header Tank) part HTD5041" listed in the booklet. (It's not fitted to mine but I'm curious)

What I'm wondering is if anyone has any experience of the (I assume) water heater add on for the cabin heater ??

I've tried the Taylors' website and no mention of such a device exists - any info / ideas etc. would be welcome

I found this pic in my archives, but I've no idea if this is the part to which you refer or something home made. Looks a bit weird anyway:

P.S. I hope their upholstery is fire-resistant!

Thats certainly a water heater and chiney cover to stop someone grabbing the hot chimney

You can also wrap a copper coil around the flew and lead it to a heating coil in remote (not to remote)water tank,ie feed it through to a tank in the heads behind the bulkhead

Thanks both for the speedy reply. The picture of the unit is spot on -a beautiful looking cabin and wonderful finish - but yes it's worryingly close to the fabric (perhaps they never overfilll the meths or have a flareup - or use it with that sheen ?). As to the home made idea - got me thinking - I do like the simplicity of the Taylors but also being bit of a convenience freak like the idea of hot water from a tap.

So - I suppose either off to every boat jumble going (eeeek bank account would not cope) or out with the plumbing microbore and find a header tank suitable ! I did think of producing a full water jacket for the chimney (much more efficient) - but I know my metalwork skills would instead produce a shower unit- so am going to have a think about building one if I can't find one easily (!!)

Thanks again -and off to check my boat is still 'right side up' after last night - a bit windy here !

after the failure of my Ebersbächer 2 weeks ago at the most unoportune moment, I started searching for an alternativ. I found here a manufacturer of similar heaters like the Taylor. If you go thru that website, you will find very detailed information how to install a hotwater system in such a heater using no circulating pump.
