Hi,

We just bought a new Taylor's cooker type Ideal K. After having installed everything and filling the tank up to 2/3, we tried to pump up the pressure but it did not work. We got a new leather washer for the pump because the first one looked very much dried up. However, there is still no pressure being built up. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks!

This happened to me on a Taylor 030 and I was told that the tank pump was no longer serviceable - so I had to buy a new one - can't remember price, but not cheap.

In order for the pump to work, the plunger with the leather washer has to pump air through a non-return valve into the fuel reservoir. I think you'll find there is such a valve in the end of the pump body. It probably has a spring to close the valve and maybe this has failed. I expect you can unscrew the end of the pump body to access it and service kits will be available. Leather washers are best soaked overnight in oil before fitting to the plunger.
