Got the call to pick my "fare" UP AT 14.50. "Mad Summer" could not come all the way up the Solent so I was tasked to pick the guy up from Spithead. So a chilly run down to North Stourbridge and there she was. Glinting in the evening sun.

Nice boat! After my pick up she headed off on her journey to Gib and from there over the pond to Miami.

Yes, off the bathing platform. It was only one guy in the end - electronics bod. Two hours door to door - I could do with more fares like that /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

A very fine and elegant yacht.

Did you notice if they had inside storm shutters fitted on the portlights in the hull topsides?
I can see that those rather large ones are a fair height above the waterline, but I would think that they would probably still be fitted with storm shutters - and probably have all closed for the voyage across Biscay?

Is that the sexy little number that was knocked up over the last year or so at the DML yard at devonport?
Was able to just see the radar comms domes last time I was on site there about 4 months ago.
Nobody was able to say who the client was though!
My guess is he's bloody rolling in it!
Good luck to him/them,very nice bit of kit that.

Nice bit of kit!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You do get some nice jobs, don't you!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice pics. The wave height doesn't look like the 2m predicted unless Mad Summer is somewhat more than her stated 79m length.

Why couldn't she come all the way up the Solent? Time? Surely not drawing too much water?

Cos she would have needed a Pilot???

Rob it's a Lurssen not Devenport

Solitaire nice pics. The baby blue hull paint hardly shows in your pics. She almost looks white - fortunately. But what about in the flesh? did the blue look a bit iffy?

Wave height was nowhere near what was predicted. In fact it was positively benign! I went out of the Hamble and was doing 42 knots all the way there, not even a bit of spray.

According to the captain there was too much traffic - what that meant I'm not sure as all I saw was the ferry and the hovercraft! But then the captain is American /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif and had not been in a boating lake before /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Unless my eyes were deceiving me she is white - all white, no blue, anywhere. As you say, fortunately.

A close up of the hull:

No blue!

Would love to have seen it! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Certainly makes the big Squeaker look scruffy. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Not sure solitaire. you sure she's not blue, a bit? The hull and superstructure are definitely different colours in your pics. There has been one 2008 build where the owner on seeing her had her re-awlgripped all over merely to change the shade of the colour. But that is thought to be project Safari at B&V (Mayan Queen I think it is going to be called) bit on seeing your pics I wondered if it was Mad Summer becuase the early shots of the blue didn't look great imho. When I say blue I'm talking white with merely a hint of blue. She looks blue to me, in your pics

The sun is low. If it is blue then it's so subtle that I can't see it - I was alongside for about 10 minutes but it was dusk so I'm not going to fall on my sword over the issue.
