Its reported in MBM that when the law is changed on road tax and we are all charged per mile, all tax duty on fuel will have to be axed!

Could this mean that even white diesel will go down to 30.p.p.l. again?? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Of course, I for one am not holding my breath!!

Obviously they can't charge less than the EU minimum but somehow I don't see them really reducing the duty levied by much despite what they claim (and indeed, they've not repeated that claim for a while). I suspect it was just kite flying to try and sweeten the idea of road pricing.

Yep but it does make sense! if the tax has to be dropped on fuel due to charges per mile, it would mean there is no duty to pay at the marina pumps! They can hardly charge a boat tax per mile can they?

Well your on a loser already,When you say something makes sense then you can bet it wont happen, they,ll probably move the lost revenue from road use diesel to marine use diesel so the price will go up.( i know im just bitter and twisted)

You're probably right - at the same time they'll tell us they've found a loophole which allows them to have different duty rates for road and marine use (something that the treasury claim isn't possible at the moment).
