Another job worked on over winter!
Sadly my stairs had teak onlays siliconed in place to improve look and make non-slip.
Despite efforts we cannot pull them off !
Any chance you can take photos of what you did ?
It looks like by removing them its going to be messy so might as well have a plan for repair/replacement!

Jimmy - sorry meant the end result you achieved.
Open and closed. If mine get destroyed might have to start again! Don't need a/c at moment but have future plans
