Now that we have sold our boat, we are considering our next purchase. We are currently looking at a number of pre-owned Fairline Targa 34's ( 1998 - 2005 model ) and would welcome any general comments from current or former owners, and in particular your thoughts on engine choice and cockpit seating comfort whilst underway.

PM if you prefer.

Thanks in advance.

I have a 2006 T34 and I think its a great boat. Cockpit seating is very comfortable even on long runs (recently completed a 300NM round trip to Majorca and back).

The engines I have are KAD300's (2 x 285HP), which seem perfectly fit for purpose, with reasonable fuel economy at around 1.5mpg when cruising with cleanish bottom and average load.

Let us know what other infor you require!

I have the 2002 model with KAD44s - tested her after going back into the water with a clean bottom and freshly seviced legs a couple of weeks back, and even with a full tank plus 150 litres of water and 2 crew I got 35 knots (GPS) out of her. With less load I'm sure I could have squeezed out a couple more knots.

I looked at a lot of boats in the 34' range before deciding on the T34 and one of the deciding factors was the cockpit layout, which is think is definitely the best in the class. I've done a couple of very long runs (Palma - Barcelona - Palamos, and Poole to Falmouth) in her and have no complaints at all over cockpit comfort.
