targa 30
following post end of sept
always admirred targa 30's, my dream boat, super looks with side windows, now values have slipped a bit I took a look over one yesterday.
Sorry to say overall slightly dissapointed. interior space is ok but no better than s28, s28 has far more stowage space and is far less grp bland / spartan.
Didnt like steps down, feel flimsy. did like the countertops and taps, although example i saw didnt wear very well.
Cockpit not as spacous as s28 or targa 29 but like the s28 its on one level. Seats werent deep enough and thick enough, maybe new foam would sort that.
Engine access great, really liked that, s28 is easy but if you need to while other peeps on back they need to move forward.
Big nice bathing platform, plus over s28, plus good access round sides and handrails.
Over all, dissapointed, really wanted it to work but didnt quite get there. Hate it when that happens.
Didnt get to 30knots, so cant comment if purpoise or not.
Made me appreciate s28 more. So will keep for some time yet and save up for a targa 34.

Yes Sealine do a very good sub 30ft. We have fond memories of our S28 with Kad32s (now owned by Strake).

I recently looked at allthe four mentioned. 30 seemed a step backwards from the 29, though I guess it depends what you want.34 and then 37 are rather different in having somewhat more hull to design around. But like you, bit disappointed with 30

Was at the boatshow some years back when T30 was being launched. There were a couple of guys onboard from the factory. Both preferred the T29 & felt the T29 was better quality, better built etc etc. We felt the same. It felt a nicer boat all round. The older T31 better still. A bit more space & smoother 6 cylinder engines. And alot cheaper than the T34. Thought the T30 with KAD 32s should do near on 40Kts???

yep t31 is very nice, engine bay seeems very cramped though but I do like them
shame most manufacturers are leaving 30ft twin market
guess there must be more money making bigger boats
dont see many sc29's around, i think the shape is just still a bit awkward, leaving market open for jeaneau and bmb
come on british builders theres a gap in the market here

Of course there is, but at the current Dollar rate some people still go the American/canadian route.

Was on the verge of Buying A doral 280 Monticello as it was a great layout for me and my family. Could not stand the new SC29 unfortunately. Still like the s28 and T29, but SWMBO needs more size! For me the Prestige 30 is awesome...butat £128k a little expensive.

Cheers

T31 is a very good boat with AD41's as is the T30/33 same a ge 1991-1995 but you get 3 cabins good looks with wrap around screen transom gate and good for 35 knots with AD41's bullet proof engines, (no compressors)
