Hi,

I am really finding it hard to find anywhere that sells: -

The tape with hair on.

You know!

The companionway hatch “slides” open like most yachts, it’s sliders on this “hairy tape” to reduce friction.

1. what is it’s correct name? been searching google and cant find it!
2. already tried B & Q and they don’t stock it. “you need to speak to a window maker”

thanks all.

Marine projects that built Moodys and Sigmas used a rigid(ish) tape about 6mm wide x 1mm thick with a hairy top. After I spoke with Marine Projects (now Princess yachts) they suggested a supplier in Norfolk (I think) who sent some samples which happened to fit nicely. The tapes slide into an aluminium extrusion and are supposed to stay still.

Of course the hatch sliding too and fro just slides them along with it.

Hi, try comercial vehicle body fitting suppliers (try Stedall, they have a website) I think you might be able to use 'brush seal' which is an aluminium channel with a line of bristles used as a seal on sliding doors etc.
